Sydney Blackmores Run Festival

Participants–Very few people taking wefie or selfie at the start or in the middle of the run, except me!!

Most of us had a jacket, sweater & generously donate away when flag-off. Good thing i found a sweater as i walked out at 350am but Jane said that i am a thief!!

Very corporative in their actual pan start that was divided into A,B,C upon registration.

Very chatty but not about “i never train”, ” i was sick”, “Very nice leh, where you buy that top?” etc

Many “models” running…very nice to look at. Tall, pretty, good shape,,,etc etc etc,,wink!

Standards of runners–This part is very amusing! In Singapore, you likely will see fewer runners at the last 4km+ cause everyone starts to get tired but here it feels like it just the beginning of the run where everyone dashing to the end!

2h to 230 here is consider average, below 1h 45 is normal. #%#@///!!!

Looks are deceiving!! Those fast girls are very sweet looking, they smiled & next thing you only smell smokes..kana con.

Routes— I always remembered that i have to avoid runners near the finishing line as merging from different distances but there were no bottle neck at all & during the run because 42km start 1h later & heading to a different route on their first half, 10km 2h later, fun run 3h later. What a good plan!

SLOPES SLOPES SLOPES (see attached elevation) except last the 4km.

Consolation part was the temperature at 15 degree.

Road closure are highly supported by government as they are not in the hurry to open the road, thus, 42km runners can start at 7am instead of 5am!! OMG!

Pacers— I have lots of friends doing a pacer job back in Singapore including myself but please don’t be offended for this part. There were no balloons needed but just ONE 2m flag. 1 pacer only, 5min apart, no RA RA, no whistles, no bells, no yelling, no clapping, no shouting when updating their pace, no noise!! Very “Navy Seals”, sometimes you don’t even know they are running towards you from the opposite side.

Organizer— Public transport were free, both ways as long as you show your bib.

Start and end in different iconic location. Started at the other side of the bridge near Luna Park (Milson) and ended at Opera House!

Water was served at the start. Great supporters, mainly retirees not students.

Entrance to start pan is strictly followed by your grouping when you register.I used to climb over but here the fence is too high.

Easy logistics as few water station needed because of weather. Not many marshals were needed because everyone just follow.

Smooth race bib collection. They don’t give “un necessary” items. Option to buy upon registration with discount.

Bag deposit upon bib collection day, so no hassles for both participants & organiser.

Online shops, discounts, free training, nutritions advice & lots of updates/news.

Gears that runners wear— Everyone has it own style. You don’t see many” twins, triplets or quadruplets” apparels except those who represent their run club. A uncle was wearing a collar shirts to run!

Runners got lots of shoes & apparels choices here, there were not much “copy cat”. You don’t see just the usual brand or colour.

Big brands do dominate but not high in %.

Lots of girls in yoga run gears.

So i was rewarded with a big breakfast by Jane. VEGETARIAN…#2!//Z

Cooking is so EZ

image

Cooking is actually very simple. First got to have interest and not being lazy. There are many methods that may even confused you but there are few standard steps for all cooking, example, cook the rice first before you baked them if you want a baked rice, it’s nicer.

Trial and error, it will just get better. If you wonder why is that little chicken wing is separated? That’s for BooBoo without seasoning.

BooBoo in Sydney

image

Enter a captio

After not seeing her for 2 weeks, BooBoo finally arrived. When we first saw her, our heart was so broken, she was scared and lost a lot of weight. She did not recognized us or should I say, she takes awhile before she recognized our scents. Immediately we took her out of the cage, hug and hold her before we give her some treats followed by her dinner. She ate like she have not eaten for days.

The joy of us seeing her was the happiest moment in 2 weeks here.

My 1st attempt

Its so easy!!! It depends on what you add in to bake with the chicken.

First buy a chicken & its only $5.50, marinate it with abit of salt but you can have any kind of seasoning. Chop those onions and potatoes, put them in the oven at 350 degree, 60 min!! Bingo!!! OUCHHH i burnt my palm!!!!

Onion bake rice!!Lagi simple!! Rinse the rice, chop the onions, slow fried the onion then put in the rice, stir it with water for 10min (at rice level). Bake 350 degree at 30min. Bingo!!

Time here compared time in Singapore

I DSC_0767 (1)

I have more time since i got here and i was “force” to read what she is here for in the University, TIME…After reading a few short chapter, it’s very interesting. There are so many debates about how the Big Bang started, was there? Did they? How long ago? Time stop when you die? Here i am in Sydney writing these blog and someone in school is doing her research, are we sharing the same TIME?? Kind of start moving your brain cell and start thinking right?? Not sure about you, for sure i am very curious.

Time is only a memory of an experience, not an experience…..??????????????? Think i better eat my lunch, so yummy!!!

Sunday run in Sydney

DSC_0725-01-01.jpeg
No more topless, chat chat (no one knows me) & super sweaty run anymore till summer. Running here during winter is like running in air condition space at 14 degree. For 2 hours, i felt like 1, don’t even feel tired at all. But there were lots of distraction along the run. TOO MANY THINGS TO SEE!!! Stop and taking pictures.

I saw some Aussie runners posted a view of both Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the Instagram and my first mission was to find that place. Bingo!!! It’s the Royal Botanic Garden! The park was so beautiful, huge and lots of trees, of course right? (Botanic Garden)

The bay was filled with people on a Sunday, i can imagine it will be prettier on a weekday on a sunset. I realised that taking picture during AM will not be as nice as during PM due to the positioning of the Opera House.

1st day in Sydney

IMG_20160708_125932.jpg

It’s winter here and it feels like air-conditioning everywhere. For sure you don’t feel tired, sticky, irritating after a day out compared to Singapore.

Food is reasonable cheap, fresh, healthy. Everyone don’t rush around here, courteous, friendly and chatty, if you chat with them.Traffic is kind of congested but only on the main street.

Registration at the campus was our priority. Campus looks like Harry Potter castle from the front.

First challenge was to find a apartment where is pet friendly. Well, thinking that is Australia, should be easier but NO!!! As my princess is arriving in 7 days time from Melbourne, time is crucial.

Next was to be able to cook. Luckily that was ez. Our first dish was steaks with lots of veg!!! Surprisingly it’s yummy eating healthy. I don’t miss Singapore food at all…

Studying the map was my next job as i will be running a lot here before my bike arrive in 2 months time. I am still lost over where to run but my first attempt on  will be, Glebe point at the Bay, Wentworth Park, Sydney Fish Market, Darling Harbour, Opera house, Royal Botanic Garden!! OK, i am lost already..shall see what happen tomorrow.
